We’ve seen a spike in customers calling our team worried about scams, so we thought we’d share a few top tips.

We know that calls are being made by scammers claiming to be from Care Link and similarly named companies and we’d ask all our customers to be vigilant. We’re always clear in our communication and will contact you well in advance of any changes.

Do not give out your bank details over the phone to strangers and if you’re unsure, ask to call us back through the Care Link phone line. Our team will be there to help 24 hour a day, seven days a week.

Top tips

If something doesn’t feel right, ask to call us back, our team will never ask you to stay on the line if you’re not sure.

If you’re the victim of a scam or fraudulent activity, you should report this to Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 or through their website, or contact your local trading standards team.

Follow these top tips and stay safe:
Notify others

Tell your friends, family or carers that you have received what you think might be a scam call.

Avoid suspicious links

Don’t click on unknown links in text messages.

Delay call-backs

Use a different phone or wait 20 – 30 minutes before calling back using a trusted number, some fraudsters can keep a line open.

Don’t feel pressured

Say that you will call back, our team will always be happy for you to do this, scammers will not.

Use your alarm

You can use your Care Link alarm to speak to our responders if you’re not sure about a call.

Register with TPS

The Telephone Protection Service (TPS) allows landlines and mobiles to opt out of unsolicited sales calls.

Block unwanted calls

Contact your local authority trading standards as they may be able to provide a call blocker free of charge. On mobile, check your settings and activate ‘call screen’ or ‘spam protection’ to automatically filter scam calls.
